Kerry Hoffman (Firmwalt)
Founder & CEO
Kerry founded SAGE in 2006. Kerry is a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She received her B.S. from California Lutheran University and later earned her M.A. in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and M.S. in Counseling Psychology from California Lutheran University. Kerry has worked with a wide variety of clients, but specializes in the treatment of people with developmental disabilities. Her clinical training includes internships at the Morbrook Institute and Tri-Counties Regional Center. She is able to utilize cognitive behavioral and applied behavioral analysis techniques with adolescents and adults. Kerry has 20 years experience working with people with developmental disabilities. Her prior experiences include working as a Service Coordinator at Tri-Counties Regional Center and holding manager and director positions for other supported living agencies. Additionally, Kerry has worked for over 8 years as a behavioral consultant for residential facilities. Kerry is a licensed member of the California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.
Samantha Lockwood
Director
Samantha joined SAGE in 2007. Samantha is a graduate from California Lutheran University, where she earned a B.A. in psychology and an Executive MBA. Samantha has worked for over 19 years with people with developmental disabilities. In 2003, Samantha began working in the mental health field at the Southern Wisconsin Center for the Developmentally Disabled. Samantha moved from Wisconsin to California in 2005, where she worked for supported living services throughout Ventura County. Samantha transitioned to SAGE in 2007, where she has held positions as Community Coach, Community Mentor, Senior Community Mentor, Supervisor, Manager, and currently as Director of Operations. Since 2009, Samantha has worked as a certified Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NCI) instructor for SAGE.
Victor Trujillo
Director
Victor Trujillo, Manager of SAGE, joined Service to Achieve Growth and Empower in 2012 as a Community Coach and has since received promotions leading to his current role as Manager. Victor received a bachelor’s degree from California State Northridge and continued his studies at California Lutheran University’s for a Master of Education and Teaching Credential Program before discovering Supported Living. Victor prides himself in taking an active role in providing new employee orientations and training to new Community Coaches, while seeing them grow in their positions. Victor is also a certified Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (CPI) instructor for SAGE. Victor enjoys traveling with his wife especially visiting their second home, Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.
Shaun Prater
Manager
​Shaun Prater, SAGE Manager, has been a part of the Service to Achieve Growth and Empower team since 2013. He began as a community coach and has received three promotions; Community Mentor, Field Supervisor, and Manager. Shaun has over eighteen years of experience working with adults with developmental disabilities. He enjoys taking an active role in SAGE events and is passionate about volunteering in the community, nature conservancy, and the arts.
Ryan Williams
Manager
Ryan joined SAGE in 2006. Ryan has worked for over 20 people with developmental disabilities. Mr. Williams began his career in the quality assurance department of a supported living agency, which attracted him to this field. Mr. Williams transferred within the company, working as a job coach as well. Shortly thereafter, Mr. Williams was recruited to another company working as a community trainer. Mr. Williams received several promotions, including training specialist, field supervisor, assistant manager, manager, assistant director, director of field operations, and executive manager. Throughout his career, Mr. Williams has volunteered with the Ventura County Special Olympics as a coach. Ryan continues to develop his academic knowledge through taking courses at Ventura College. Ryan plans to earn a degree as a Registered Nurse, which he will use to further enhance his ability to serve people with developmental disabilities.
